Senate Dem at Tax March: ‘We’re taking the gloves off’

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) on Saturday rallied protesters calling for the release of President Trump’s taxes, saying they’re “taking the gloves off.”

“We’re taking the gloves off to knock off the secrecy,” Wyden said at the Tax March in D.C. The crowd responded with chants of “knock it off.”

{mosads}Wyden, the ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee, added that people want “real tax reform” that benefits ordinary working people, rather than Trump and other wealthy people.

“We need a system that gives working people finally a fair chance to get ahead too,” he said.

Wyden has introduced legislation to require Trump and future presidents and presidential nominees to disclose their tax returns.

He has also sent letters asking Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) to request Trump’s returns from the Treasury Department, though Hatch has rejected those requests.

The Tax March in D.C. is one of more than 150 rallies across the world being held on Saturday to call on Trump to release his tax returns.
